Minoan Group plans to develop Cavo Sidero on a 25.9 sq km peninsula in
the north-east region of Crete, away from the island's package tour
destinations, yet just 30 minutes from Sitia, the island's new international
airport.
Situated in the Prefecture of Lasithi, an area renowned for outstanding
natural beauty, the peninsula was originally owned by the Holy
Monastery of Toplou and is leased from the Ecclesiastical Foundation
Panagia Akrotiriani.
Among the region's attractions are the Monastery,
the Hellenistic ruins at Itanos and the Minoan ruins at Kato Zakros and Palekastro and Vai
beach, home to Europe's only indigenous palm forest.
